da dobrowin: According to the printed version of The Sun (January 11, page 53), Everton are lining up a £15m January move for Southampton right-back Cedric Soares, and Saints should use any interest to reunite manager Ralph Hasenhuttl with Ademola Lookman.
What’s the word, then?
Well, The Sun report that Hasenhuttl is ready to cash in on the Portugal international this month and his national compatriot is keen to bring him to Goodison Park before the deadline on January 31.
The fact that Yan Valery has largely been selected ahead of the 27-year-old means it would be no surprise if he did move on in the coming days and weeks, while the Toffees would love to bring an international player who should be in his prime to Merseyside for a fee of £15m.
Meanwhile, a report in The Daily Star (January 8, page 47) stated earlier this month that Hasenhuttl is keen to be reunited with a player he brought to and got the best out of when he was in charge of RB Leipzig last term.
Would Lookman be a good signing?
He certainly would be.
Hasenhuttl has openly admitted that he would like to add some more pace and speed to his attack, and there is no doubt that that 21-year-old has that in abundance.
The fact that the Austrian manager already knows his strengths having worked with him before is obviously another huge positive, and given they would unlikely be able to afford Everton’s asking price if they did want to sign him outright this month, using Cedric Soares as part of the deal could help them get a move over the line for a reasonable fee by close of play on January 31.
