da realsbet: According to reports in The Daily Mail, Leeds United have made an enquiry for Middlesbrough striker Patrick Bamford, who is rated at £16m by his club according to The Sun journalist Alan Nixon on Twitter, and Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur must hijack any potential move.
What’s the word, then?
da betcris: Well, The Daily Mail says that the Yorkshire outfit have sounded out Boro about a potential move for the 24-year-old centre-forward, having become frustrated in their attempts to land other targets such as free agent Abel Hernandez and Derby County’s Matej Vydra.
The Daily Mail says that Whites boss Marcelo Bielsa wants a proven Championship player to lead his frontline during the 2018/19 campaign, and it is no surprise that he would be interested in the 6ft 1in tall Bamford following his impressive numbers for the Teesside club last term.
The former Chelsea man scored 13 goals in 44 appearances in total, which included a stunning run of eight goals in the space of five successive Championship outings in February and March.
Why should Tottenham hijack any interest?
Well, The Evening Standard reported on earlier this week that Mauricio Pochettino, who must forget about signing Djene Dakonam and buy a £35m centre-back Arsenal wanted in June instead, is keen to offload both Vincent Janssen and Fernando Llorente before the transfer window closes on August 9, which would leave him in need of bringing a new striker to the north London outfit.
That player would have to be willing to play second fiddle to Harry Kane however, and given his record, his attributes and the qualities he has shown he has in the past, Bamford could be a surprise but ideal contender.
The 24-year-old has plundered 36 goals in 100 Championship games, and while he hasn’t pushed on as much as would have been expected having joined Chelsea at a young age, he will have a massive point to prove and still has time on his side – for £16m, Tottenham should take a punt on him.
