da apostaganha: Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a summer swoop for Wilfried Zaha but the Guardian report that Crystal Palace are set to offer the flying wideman a new deal.
da imperador bet: If Palace are able to tie down their best player, Tottenham’s reported interest in Manchester United outcast Anthony Martial can be expected to ramp up as they seek to add pace to their attack this summer.
What’s the story, then?
The Guardian report that Zaha is currently earning £110,000 per week at Selhurst Park but Roy Hodgson will seek to ward off potential suitors with a new deal that would see him surpass Christian Benteke as the club’s top earner.
The report also goes on to say that Zaha is happy at his boyhood club, which is another blow for Tottenham in a week when another reported wing target, Fulham’s Ryan Sessegnon, was declared off the table this summer.
United man Martial was reportedly on a list of three names – which also included Sessegnon – Pochettino wanted to see in a new era in North London after signing a new five-year deal earlier this month.
Missing out on Zaha and Sessegnon would see Pochettino turn to Martial
If Zaha does commit to Palace, that’s two flying widemen that Pochettino will have missed out on this summer and that should make him all the more determined to snare Martial.
Martial would be the perfect choice for Tottenham; he has proven Premier League class, is an able deputy for Harry Kane but can also operate as a starter from the left.
Pochettino is keen to ensure Tottenham take the next step in the coming season and reports suggest he is willing to spend big on Martial to make that a reality.
